Towcester Centre For Leisure,
Touche Fencing Club is pleased to include wheelchair fencing into its club. This dynamic sport is growing in popularity and is a great way for less able bodied people to enjoy fencing.
All three weapons are taught for wheelchair fencing at TFC. Baldip and Hilary Sahota both coach the GB wheelchair Fencing Team, so you are in good hands!
Shown above are Hilary, Gabby, Craig and Baldip. You can see them at the Paralympic Games 2012!
TFC has a wheelchair frame for fencers to clamp their wheelchairs into, to provide stability for coaching and bouts.
Fencers select their fencing distance depending upon the reach of each fencer, and fencing is maintained at this distance. The rules for Wheelchair fencing are the same as for able -bodied fencing, though the target area is modified for epee.
