Type of service:
Northamptonshire County Council,
Short Breaks for Children with Autism,
Our service offers a residential respite facility for children with disabilities who have either a diagnosis of autism, complex health needs and/or complex behaviour. This is a specialist service covering the full age range up to 18 years and provides a structured environment and nursing care. It offers parents and carers the opportunity to ‘recharge their batteries’ in the knowledge that their child is in a safe, supportive and stimulating environment.
82 Northampton Road is a six-bed residential unit offering short breaks to children who have a primary diagnosis of autism.
Short breaks are not usually longer than three to four days in any one stay, with the maximum seven overnights in any month.
We work in partnership with all statutory and voluntary agencies including schools, day centres, care agencies, the county council and health services. We also work very closely with parents and carers to ensure continuity of care.
Our service is accessed by the Northamptonshire County Council (NCC) Needs Panel. A child or young person’s case is presented by a social worker. Please talk directly to your social worker or contact the NCC referral team on 0300 126 1000 for further information.
