Service description:
St James Church of England Primary School is a happy and ambitious school. They are situated in an interesting part of Northampton, a short walk from Franklin’s Gardens (home of Northampton Saints Rugby Club), and a slightly longer walk from Sixfields leisure area (home of 'The Cobblers', Northampton Town Football Club). The school was built in 2006, and offers fantastic accommodation for 14 classes and a nursery, with ample playing fields and outdoor spaces.

Sport is important to the school, but so are academic progress and achievement. Most importantly they believe children deserve to be happy at school, have lots of opportunities to develop as people and become rounded and mature individuals by the time they leave at 11 years-old. Children need to be able to read and write and have good mathematical skills if they are to do well, but they also need to be able to manage their own learning, communicate easily and make the right choices about their behaviour.

The local community is very mixed and the school reflects this. Their families come from many countries and speak a wide range of languages at home. St James is a Church of England academy in the Peterborough Diocese Education Trust, but many of their families and pupils come from non-Christian backgrounds. The school believes faith to be important, as they respect each other and learn together.
