Type of service:
As well as launching the card scheme we have also encouraged local organisations and business to become official 'Keep Safe places'. This involves staff at the location receiving training, which usually lasts for one to two hours, so that staff have a greater understanding of the scheme and learn about communication with people with learning disabilities. We do not ask the staff to be experts or provide in depth support, simply to assist the person in contacting the right people for help/support, whether that be the police, ambulance or family/support workers.
If you are interested in finding out more about becoming a Keep Safe place, or about the training offered for staff, please contact the Learning Disability Partnership Board, Henley Centre, Saunders Close, Kettering, NN16 0AP telephone 01536 532884 or email
