What is Neighbourhood Learning?

Welcome to Neighbourhood Learning, part of Northamptonshire County Council’s Adult learning.  We are here to offer free engagement learning courses in the community to people in Corby, Kettering, Northampton and Wellingborough.

Quality teaching and learning

We work hard to provide top quality teaching and learning. We are accountable for quality both to OFSTED and the Skills Funding Agency (SFA) who provide funding for this valuable resource in our communities. Our dedicated team were graded ‘Good’ by OFSTED in 2010 and we are working hard all the time to improve.

Local Community Learning

Because we focus on creating local learning opportunities, our courses are arranged by local ‘Curriculum Coordinators’ who partner with groups and organisations, each based in one of our targeted localities.

Please get in touch with your local Curriculum Coordinator for more details of courses running in your area. I hope you will get a flavour of our courses and venues.

Steps beyond Neighbourhood Learning

As part of taking a Neighbourhood Learning course, we try to help our learners take their new found skills and confidence further. We offer individuals Information, Advice and Guidance through other funded IAG advisors in the area.

  • Within NCC’s Adult learning, Neighbourhood Learning has close links with Learn2b, Family Learning and PCDL programmes. These can often provide the ‘next step’ for our learners.
  • As part of the wider network of providers in the county, we also encourage learners towards further local learning or volunteering opportunities that are available.

Thanks for your interest and I hope you will find helpful information on these pages. As Neighbourhood Learning Manager, I am always pleased speak with you if you want to be in touch.
